Today, we're excited to share [Rich Harris](https://twitter.com/rich_harris), the creator of Svelte, has joined Vercel to help us in our mission to make the Web. Faster.

Both [Svelte](https://svelte.dev/) and Vercel want to make building for the Web both enjoyable *and* fast. Svelte has been voted the [most loved Web framework](https://insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2021#section-most-loved-dreaded-and-wanted-web-frameworks) with the [most satisfied developers](https://2020.stateofjs.com/en-US/technologies/front-end-frameworks/) and has a thriving community. Its usage has doubled in the past year, with over 200,000 weekly downloads and over 50,000 stars on GitHub.

Joining Vercel enables Rich to work on Svelte full-time, giving the project its first dedicated contributor. The governance of Svelte does not and will not change – it's still the same independent, open-source project and community. With Vercel's backing, Svelte can get even more ambitious.

The future of Svelte is [Edge-first](https://vercel.com/features/edge-functions). By taking the best parts of traditional apps, combined with the best parts of single-page apps, we can build "[transitional apps](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=860d8usGC0o)" that deliver a delightful end-user experience *and* a great developer experience.

Vercel is an open platform, committed to developing and supporting tools that are a joy to use and enable developers to build incredible experiences for end-users. By sponsoring frameworks like Svelte, Nuxt, Astro, and more – as well as community-built libraries we believe in and use – we're helping create a better Web ecosystem.

We're excited about the future of Svelte and creating templates for other frameworks in the open ecosystem to follow. See why developers love Svelte and try [Svelte on Vercel](https://vercel.com/new/clone?s=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fvercel%2Fvercel%2Ftree%2Fmain%2Fexamples%2Fsveltekit&template=sveltekit&id=67753070&b=main&from=templates) today. We look forward to building the future of Svelte with you.
